Le Cloître

Located in the heart of the St-Donat forest, this residential project showcases Alumilex's expertise in creating high-end aluminum windows and doors.

The house stands out with its impressive glass walls, blurring the line between the calm of the home and the outside. The large Alumilex windows, with their minimalist black aluminum frames, perfectly showcase the surrounding forest while letting in plenty of light and offering panoramic views of nature.

The custom-made sliding door system allows for generous openings to outdoor spaces, creating perfect continuity between the living area and nature. Alumilex's technical precision is evident in every detail: clean joints, high-performance thermal insulation, and meticulous finishes.

This project illustrates perfectly Alumilex's mission: to design tailor-made solutions that meet the most ambitious architectural requirements while enhancing the harmony between the home and its surroundings.

Challenges and solutions

This modern residence presented a major architectural challenge, to create a living space where indoors and outdoors blend harmoniously, while respecting the environment. 

The goal was to create maximum visibility to fully enjoy the panoramic views of the forest, while maintaining the thermal performance and insulation needed for the Quebec climate.

To meet this ambitious architectural vision, Alumilex solutions made it possible to create large curtain walls and glass walls with minimalist black aluminum profiles. These structures offer:

  • Maximized glass surfaces with ultra-thin frames for optimal transparency

     

  • Disruptive structural joints allowing 90-degree glass angles without intermediate mullions

     

  • A high-performance lift-and-slide system for easy access to outdoor terraces

     

  • Superior thermal insulation thanks to the thermal break system, essential for countering extreme temperature variations
