PROJECT

# Résidence de la Roche

Located in Montreal's Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie neighbourhood, Résidence de la Roche is a stunning conversion of a duplex into a single-family home, filled with natural light.

La Résidence de la Roche combines the preservation of a historic façade with a modern structure, using a cantilevered extension above the garden.

Alumilex's expertise is reflected in the custom-made openings that act as subtle light filters, creating a warm yet minimalist atmosphere in the heart of the city.

## Challenges and solutions

 /

The main challenge was to expand the living space with an extension in the yard, while preserving the family's privacy in a busy urban environment, all without losing any natural light.

To bring this vision to life, Alumilex solutions were used to create windows and glass doors that define the architectural character of the house. These structures offer:

- Minimalist design with slim profiles allowing a full view of the backyard while supporting the weight of a suspended structure.

- Light and privacy modulation through the integration of copper steel slats facing the glazing, creating a depth effect on the garden-side facade.

- High-level thermal performance, essential for large glass panels in Montreal, ensuring constant comfort under the central glass roof.

- A beautiful architectural contrast between the traditional facade facing the street and the modern extension, highlighting the technical expertise required for a successful transformation.
